Library Materials Due Back by June 13th!

The last day of Spring Quarter is fast approaching. Before you take off for the summer break, please make sure to return, by June 13th, any Holman Library items that you have checked out. Faculty and staff can check out books for the break. Students can also check out books, providing they show proof of registration for Summer Quarter. The library will be closed during the quarter break; however, the book drop will be open. Items returned to the book drop will be processed on the day that they are turned in. If you have questions, please contact the circulation desk at extension 2090. Enjoy your break, and we will see you back for the first day of Summer Quarter classes!

One Book

Our campus community will engage in the One Book program for the 2008/2009 academic year. The program encourages everyone on the campus to read the same book at the same time. We will host educational events, reading groups, and other related activities. Faculty and adjunct instructors have the opportunity to participate in PAID curriculum development workshops this summer and fall, and can receive FREE student copies of the book if using it as a course text.

The One Book selection committee is pleased to announce the book for the 2008/2009 academic year:

Persepolis: The Story of a Childhood by Marjane Satrapi
Persepolis is a powerful memoir of a young girl growing up and living through the devastating changes of the Islamic Revolution of 1979. The story is presented in graphic format with simple, elegant drawings.

Instructors who would like to participate in PAID curriculum development workshops or receive free books for use in courses should contact librarian Katy Dichter as soon as possible (kdichter@greenriver.edu or ext. 2102).
